Chris was one of the twenty-eight Naples residents that undertook
the challenge of a lifetime by climbing to the summit (19,335 feet) of Mt. Kilimanjaro
in Tanzania as a fundraiser for the Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida. The
journey raised awareness and over $300,000 for the hospital, as well as raising
$15,000 and 800 pounds of goods for a children's shelter in Moshi, Tanzania, that
houses children orphaned by the African AIDS epidemic |

On the photo on the right, Climber Chris Braun and a
boy from the shelter play an impromptu game of soccer in the dirt courtyard that
contains open-air classrooms. Although it was short, the visit was a moving experience
for the exhausted climbers. |

Chris is married and the father of 3 boys. Originally from Bergen
County, New Jersey, he graduated from Naples High School and went on to obtain his
undergraduate degree from Furman University. His primary personal interests are
focused upon spending time with his family, back country spin-cast and fly fishing,
writing, music, woodworking, soccer, attending athletic events, and exercise / boxing.
He is competitive and deeply committed to the highest levels of ethics and integrity
within both his personal and professional pursuits. Chris and his family are parishioners
at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Olde Naples where he and his wife Mary were
married in 1994.
